Physicians Medical Group of San Jose, Inc. (PMG) is a dedicated group of physicians who joined together in 1980 to form an Independent Physicians Association (IPA) for the purpose of providing health care to their patients who were enrolled in Health Maintenance Organizations (HMOs) or Preferred Provider Organizations (PPOs).

PMG has more than 380 physicians who are committed to delivering high quality health care. One hundred sixty-four (164) Physicians serve in the capacity of Primary Care, Family Practice, General Practice, Internal medicine, and Pediatrics. Two hundred seventeen(217) specialists cover more than 40 disciplines, including Obstetrics/ Gynecology.

PMG's physicians provide personal and individualized care that you need and deserve. As one of the largest multi-specialty medical groups in the South Bay area, Physicians Medical Group has distinguished itself by providing superior health care for the entire family with special emphasis on personal attention.

Office Locations. Because we know that convenience is important to you, Physicians Medical Group offers private, centrally located offices close to your home and office.

PMG offers multilingual speaking physicians and staff for your convenience. Physicians and their staff can help with language or cultural needs. We have primary care physicians and specialists who speak Spanish, Vietnamese, Tagolog, Hindi, Chinese, Urdu and many others - in fact, nearly 30 foreign languages in all!

PMG physicians and hospitals. Most PMG physicians work closely with Regional Medical Center (formerly Alexian Brothers Hospital), O'Connor Hospital and San Jose Medical Center (SJMC). When a service is required that is not provided by the above mentioned hospitals, arrangements can me made for you to receive your care at other facilities such as Stanford Medical Center or Valley Medical Center.

Physicians availability. PMG Physicians are available 24 hours a day, seven days a week either in their office or by telephone. They provide their patients with preventative care, ongoing care, and urgent care.

For life threatening emergencies that need immediate care, our physicians recommend that you call 911 or go to the nearest emergency room. However, most PMG physicians recommend Regional Medical Center of San Jose or O'Connor Hospital for emergency care.

Physicians and your insurance plan. Because today, more than ever, your choice of physicians are linked to your choice in health plans, PMG's physicians are participating providers in most insurance programs including Health Maintenance Organizations (HMOs), Preferred Provider Organizations (PPOs), Medi-Cal managed care, Healthy Families and Healthy Kids . Choosing a plan that includes Physicians Medical Group ensures that you will receive comprehensive medical care tailored to your needs.

EXCEL MSO is an organization that provides administrative services to the physicians in PMG. EXCEL MSO works closely with physicians and health plans to provide eligibility, claims payment, member services, authorizations and health plan co-ordination. EXCEL MSO also provides a member services department with a direct line for PMG members. If you have any questions, Member Services Representatives are available to help you. Excel is closed on most holidays.
